First movie experience in Osaka

As salam.
  • Kami pi tengok Iron Man 3 haritu. Masa beli tiket, pegi berdua je dgn sikecik.
  • Sampai je kat situ, ada berderet machine untuk purchase movie tickets. Jadi disebabkan language barrier, kami pun terpaksa mintak khidmat nasihat dari staff kat situ.
  • Being Japanese, the staff was very helpful walaupun kami macam itik dan ayam bercakap. Dia contact kawan sorang lagi. Kawan tu mai, pun tak paham jugak.
  • Memang ada English option kat machine tu, tapi sebab ada different pricing untuk children, so kena la tanya jugak.
  • After 20 minutes, mai lagi sorang staff, mungkin supervisor. Alhamdulillah, dia boleh kecek English. Dia tekan, tekan, tekan, tup tup keluar total.
  • Boleh terasa peluh kenit keluaq kat dalam tudung..panaih ja. 7200yen? (Dah convert dalam RM240.00) Apa?!! Tapi muka still maintain muka eksyen.
  • Menggigil masukkan duit dalam machine. Dalam kepala dok pikiaq macamana nak ayat lakiku ni, dapat bayaq half pun jadila huhu..
  • So, hari Sabtu, 27/4 kami pun pegi lah menonton dengan jayanya.

  • Sama ja panggung wayangnya dengan yang ada kat Malaysia nun.  Macam GSC & TGV tu.  Yang ni TOHO Cinema.

  • Ada tempat letak payung kat belakang each seat. Yang ni ada tak kat sana?

  • Masa menonton, depa ni senyap ja. Takkan tengok funny parts pun senyap? Kami ja yang bising ketawa. Rasa bersalah pulak bila ketawa. Memang culture diorg gitu gamaknya. Dulu masa tengok bunga api pun senyap ja. Kami yang dok jerit, tepuk tangan bagai.

  • Review cerita tak payah lah nak story kot. Mesti ramai yang dah tengok. Saya bagi 4 bintang!

  • Lain kali kalau nak tengok wayang, kena check discount days. Kalau tak memang berpeluh nak bayaq. Unless cik abang nak sponsor :P

Bread rolls

As salam..
  • Using the same dough from my previous entry, we can make other types of bread like cinnabon, bread rolls, pull-apart breads, stuffed buns and many more.
  • Be creative! Add some chocolate chips or stuff them with some cream, kaya, sausages, tuna or chicken, top them with sauce and so on.
  • I made some bread rolls as well. We had some for dinner and baked some more in the morning for breakfast!  I love the smell in my little house whenever I bake. Smells like a bakery shop :)
  • Anyway, I didn't take any photos while making this rolls though.  Got some help from google. I hope this helps.
  • Here are some pictures of mine :)

Cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting

  • As salam. How are you? These few weeks were quite hectic with family activities so, I couldn't write any entry though I have a lot in mind.
  • Yesterday was quite fun as I experimented bun making and the best part was of course when it was a success!
  • I took the recipe from here.  The original recipe requires a bread machine, but I decided to do some arm and wrist exercises by using my hands :)
  • This rolls will take about 3 hours of your time. Yup, that long..as you need to let the dough rise and so on.
  • Here's the recipe for those who want to build muscle ;P
Cinnamon Rolls

Dough:

237ml  Warm milk
18g  Dry yeast
76g  Butter/Margarine (melted)
540g  Bread flour
100g Granulated white sugar
2  Eggs
1 teaspoon  Salt

Filling:

200g Brown sugar
2 1/2 tablespoons  Ground cinnamon
60g Butter(room temperature)

Frosting:

85g  Cream cheese
50g  Butter (room temperature)
180g  Confectioner's sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence

Instructions:

  • First, in a large bowl, dissolve the yeast into the milk to activate it for about 5 mins.
  • Then, mix in the eggs, butter, sugar and salt.
  • Next, add in the flour and mix well. Dust your hands with some flour and knead the dough into a ball.

  • Place the dough back in the bowl and cover the bowl with a plastic wrap or a damp towel. You may even place the bowl in the oven that has been preheated. Don't forget to switch off the oven before placing the bowl.

  • After 1 hour or when the size doubles, take the dough out. Lightly floured your work surface and punch the dough.  This is to release any gas in it.

  • Let is rest for about 10 mins.
  • Prepare the filling. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  • Roll dough into a 16x21inch rectangle. Spread some butter on the dough followed by the filling mixture evenly.

  • Roll up the dough and cut into 12 rolls. Place them in the baking pan.

  • Cover and let them rise for about 30mins. Preheat your oven to 200deg celcius.

  • Then, bake rolls until golden brown for about 15 minutes.

  • While baking, prepare the frosting. Beat together butter, cream cheese and vanilla essence.
  • Spread frosting before serving. Enjoy your rolls!

Comfort Food ~ 5-minute Bread & Butter Pudding

As salam.

  • Over the weekend, we didn't actually go anywhere except to the newly-launched H&M store in Umeda. So, basically we were just lazing at home most of the time plus it was a wet weekend, again.
  • I suddenly craved for something sweet(no, I'm not pregnant & I crave for food all the time lol). I looked through the youtube for a simple recipe, 5-minute Bread & Butter Pudding. You can watch it here
  • Yeay! I had some nearly-stale bread and all the ingredients needed in the kitchen.
  • It's a very simple recipe and it tastes delicious. I'm a fan of bread & butter pudding and I think this recipe is just awesome!
  • You need about 2 minutes to prepare and mix. Next, just tuck in your mug/baking dish in the microwave for 2-3 minutes and you're done! I've made some changes to the recipe as I was making it for 3 instead of 1. Here's the recipe. Enjoy!

5-minute Bread & Butter Pudding

50g  Butter(melted)
1 Egg
60g  Granulated sugar (I used brown sugar)
10g  Cinnamon powder
1/4  Vanilla essence
Some raisins if you like.
2 slices of bread

Mix everything in a bowl using a whisk. Then, add the raisins. Cut the bread into small pieces and toss them into the bowl. When everything is mixed, put the mixture into your baking dish. Bake in the microwave for about 2-3 minutes.

Try this and don't forget to leave a comment! :)

Autumn ~ Chapter 1

As salam readers.

  • I know this is late.  It's already spring and I'm writing about autumn :P.
  • During the previous autumn season, we had gone to a few places in Osaka to witness the beauty of autumn leaves or 'momijigari'.
  • On November 27th, 2012, we made a short trip to a nearby park called Expo '70 Commemorative Park.  It is located at Banpaku-kinen-koen station of Osaka Monorail, after a transit from Midosuji line.
  • I've attached the link to the access map on their website.

  • Previously, the park was the site used for an expo back in 1970.
  • I'll stop mumbling now and let you browse through the pictures ;)

If you're in Osaka, this is one of the places that is worth visiting during autumn & spring, especially if you enjoy strolling in a peaceful, serene and tranquil setting with magnificent view.
